Public defense reform affects us all. Let’s work together to change the system.

We want to build a Board with a diverse representation of community members and those interested in helping us shape what we hope to improve in public defense, regardless of your location.

Board membership asks about 5-10 hours of service per month. At a minimum, you are asked to be present (remotely) for our monthly meeting, available for votes on business matters, and in regular contact via email, text, or remote video calls. Committee participation, fundraising, and other small projects may also be part of your responsibilities.

You don’t have to be local to Douglas or Shawnee County. You don’t have to be an attorney. We’d love to have members from other regions and all professional, socioeconomic, educational, and cultural backgrounds.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Kansas Holistic Defenders Board of Directors, we’d love to hear from you!
