Matt Bender is an associate professor of law at Washburn University School of Law where he directs the criminal justice clinic and teaches criminal procedure, evidence, and constitutional litigation. Matt's scholarship has focused on access to counsel and best practices for public defender organizations and he is a co-author of a criminal procedure textbook. Matt previously directed the criminal practice clinic at the University of Arkansas and worked for the Arkansas Public Defender Commission. He attended law school at the University of Michigan and is active in the Michigan MDefender's program, which supports public defenders and students who are interested in public defense careers.
